About hyquo
hyquo (Harry Quoc-Hy Tran) is a composer/arranger, primarily known for his high-energy video game music arrangements on YouTube, which he started as a teenager in 2015. Inspired by his favourite video games, like Pokémon, Splatoon, and Ace Attorney, hyquo uses virtual instruments to craft emotional melodies and catchy rhythms in various styles. He has a particular interest in conveying themes of hope, nature, and celebration of the mundane.
Born and raised in Melbourne, hyquo graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2021 with a Bachelor of Music degree specialising in Interactive Composition, and looks to continue expanding his experience in writing for interactive media, especially games.
As part of his uni coursework, hyquo participated in several interdisciplinary collaboration works, like Resonating Spaces (2019) and Thread (2020). He has also contributed to the score for various award-winning shorts, like Whisper (2017) and Tank (2023). hyquo has a background in flute, and was a dedicated leader of ensembles during his high school years at Suzanne Cory High School, including arrangement and composition work.
